Inspired by :icondarkness-gfx:'s incredible render, I'm exploring Ilustrator once again. I figured out a method of working with the gradient mesh that is much easier.

I wonder how long Chekov had been XO of Reliant before the Genesis Crisis? At least a year or two I hope.

No idea how long Chekov was XO, but I think it was about 15 years between the last episode of TOS and the events of TWoK. He and Kyle (remember the transporter chief?) had plenty of time to work up the ranks before signing onto the Reliant.

Actually, more like 14 years probably, as ST I:TMP happened timeline-wise of December 2271, so there's a HUGE gap of 14-15 years between movies that will probably never be filled in canon-wise since the original crew actors are starting to die off, but yeah, I still get your point. I was just saying I hope Chekov hadn't just started a five-year mission on the Reliant to have so suddenly and violently cut-short like it was in TWoK.

I get your point as well. I would hope that he hadn't just started out, too. IIRC, at the end of TVH, all the command crew was cleared of any wrong doing (and declared heroes once again), so I'm sure he got another XO slot in fairly short order.

BTW: I don't think it's canon, but I think I read somewhere that Sulu was originally up for the slot of captain of the Excelsior (instead of Styles), but was passed over because of the delay caused by the investigation of the Genesis Crisis. Not his fault, obviously, but an interesting bit of backstory.
